Weekly Photo Challenge: Contrast
Day 212 – February 19, 2012
For this week, the photo challenge from the fine folk at WordPress is Contrast.
Here is my entry taken from a flat-bottomed boat on the Peruvian section of the Amazon River.
It had rained earlier in the day and the dark clouds you see in the background is the squall continuing its way east down the river. The downpour threatened our trip to a rescue center where we would see monkeys, toucans, anacondas, and a sloth, but it did pass and we were able to enjoy the animals (pictures for a later post, I promise).
The obvious contrasts in this photo are:
…Land vs. Water
…Water vs. Air
…Dark vs. Light
To me, the unseen contrast in this photograph is the fact that I am using man-made technology to capture and share the wonders of the natural world.
(Did I just overthink that?)

Nice shot,.
Thanks for the comment. I appreciate any and all feedback.
Nice. Love the difference in colours.
I do too. I never fully realized that the Amazon, which I had never seen with my own eyes before, was so brown. Since it was a river, I just made the assumption (and wrongly so) that it would be a shade of blue. Thanks for stopping by.
Beautiful shot
Thank you muchly. Once again, just shows the fun of pointing, clicking, and seeing what shows up.
nice shot
