Weekly Photo Challenge: Unusual
Day 150 – December 19, 2011
In my best Steve Martin/Navin R. Johnson voice, I say, “The new Photo Challenge is here! The new Photo Challenge is here!”
The topic for this week is “Unusual“.
Here’s the background story. While my sister-in-law was in Lima visiting us, I attempted to take her to the Museo de la Nacion to show her the highlights of Peruvian culture.
One tiny problem. Today was a Monday and the museum is closed on Monday.
Lesson learned – call ahead or look at a website before venturing out.
The day was not a complete loss as she pointed out a building to me and I took the following picture.
I guess this is what happens when kids who played Jenga grow up to be architects.

What an eye-catching building. Great photo for this week’s theme. Glad you’re day wasn’t a total loss.:-)
Thanks. Afterwards, we went to Jockey Plaza so she could see what a Peruvian mall looks like. What was not unusual is that looks like any mall you would find in the United States.
Amazing! That is quite unusual…
I’m still trying to figure out where the fire escape is located.
Hmmm, I’ve got lots of piles of books that look like that, only smaller!
Ah, the stories those stories could tell (sorry, obvious pun on books, but it had to be done). Thanks for clicking by.

Is it a library? it looks like a stack of books! awesome
Google Maps identifies this building as belonging to the Ministry of Education. Not sure if it’s their HQ or a branch office.
Yep – definitely a stack of books!
If it truly is a building associated with the Ministry of Education, then the book motif would make oodles of sense.
absolutely love it…very cool
Thanks for the kind comment. I should find out who the architect(s) are and send them a thank you for designing such an unusual building.
I think it looks like books too! I expect to see titles on the other side!
So then would the white structure at the very top of the building be considered a bookend?
Unusual indeed. And cool!
Thank you muchly and thanks for stopping by.
hehe…clever
I must give credit where it is due. Thanks to my sister-in-law for pointing out the building. I’m glad y’all are enjoying the snapshot.
Unusual building alright!
That it is. After a few pisco sours (almost the national drink down here), I wonder if the building looks aligned.
I love this building, I give full marks to the architect. It is hard to come up with an UNUSUAL design these days. He hit the nail on the head.
If I can unearth the architect’s name(s), I will share it. I should just go to the corner of the building and see if it’s there. That wouldn’t be unique for here.
Wow – that’s so cool!!! What a great and interesting feature – definitely unusual.
Thank you for the comment and for stopping by.
This is excellent post very unusual ,nice post
Thanks. I’m enjoying the photo challenges WordPress puts forward every week.
Looks like a stack of hard back books.. well caught..;0
They look like a stack after an earthquake – which in Peru, happens quite a bit.
it must be a library, great capture

Being a library or a building associated with books would make sense based on the architecture. Thanks for the comment.
I also think it looks like books. Great post.
Thanks for the kind comment.
Must. Find. Architect’s. Name.
awesome!!!
I completely agree with your sentiment. Thanks for stopping by.
